About myself. Well I am not the Emperor Nero that's for sure - honest! I am Rob, sometimes know as the "Big Moustache" - something that stuck after a rather unfortunate personal facial hair affectation some years ago. I am employed as a local government officer (honestly) working for [Lancaster City Council] with specific responsibilities for creating an acccessible and inclusive environment.

In real life I am a 40 something year old divorced man who who has had more employment experience than you can shake a stick at, and who happens to use a wheelchair. If you want more information than that I refer you to my Academic page, or my[C.V]. I am cynical, conversational and doubting the nature of existence, but that's just my hobby. I value manners and discipline - no don't go and tie yourself to a bedframe or similar - and I value archaic things like duty and honour. I'm eclectic, quirky, open, and fastidiously honest - scary but true and always lose at Scruples.

I was born in a small seaside resort in the county of Lancashire in the north-west of England called Morecambe. Although it has seen better days, and has been the butt of many a joke, and though some of them are thoroughly deserved, others are a little unkind. I do, however, find I still love the place, and am proud to call it home - my parents still live there (oh the draw of the genius locii).

I have served in the British Army as a tank crewman, the experience of which I am extremely proud - check out my Regimental history pages [here]. I was injured as a result of my employment as a residential social worker and ended up going back into education where I gained a Bachelors degree - any notion of disability is entirely of your construction and doesn't involve me!

My interests are legion, as they say, and I am a keen archer, handcyclist and wheelchair sportsman (yeah right - weightlifting.. getting me out of bed in the morning!), and am deeply interested in history, my area of study at university. I lived in the neighbouring city of Lancaster for about 17 years, and enjoy its historical past but I've recently (April 04) moved back into Morecambe to be nearer the parents and provide a better roof over the heads of the kids and so have come full circle home.

Although I am not overtly 'political' I do have strong views about certain issues mainly concerned with inequality and exclusion, whatever the 'subject' of that exclusion. I committed to the concept of inclusivity and respect for others, but am not a fan of 'political correctness', a panacea to hide bigotry under a tree of words.

So! Now you know who I am, its time to meet the kids. I won't launch into an embarrassing diatribe of emotive descriptions of them, I'll leave that up to them, however, Ashley is a bright and sensitive 19 year old, who likes nothing better than hanging around with friends, enjoys college and learning (odd huh?) poetry, travel, camping and bullying her father, in the middle of her first year at university where she is taking a degree in English Literature. A complete opposite is her brother, Jack.

Jack is a 13 year old with energy to burn. he is a free spirit who does not respond well to being 'caged', his enthusiasm for life and play are phenomenal. He has recently taken up the guitar and is embracing the instrument as though he was born with it in his hands - another Eric Clapton? He is in the midst of formulating his life plan for the next few years, and seeing where his skills and talents lie.
